Artist Statement
Rita Reid
I have been in the Guild over ten years, I would guess. I do not consider myself anything beyond beginner status because I do not devote enough time to it. I consider myself basically a “creative” person and do many needle arts. I love making “art” or “story” quilts as opposed to traditional quilting. My work has been exhibited several times at the Hudson Guild Gallery as well as the Fuller Craft Museum. Quilt making is a new adventure. I began quilting in 1999 and am self-taught. Using the many how-to-books, I learned about batting, binding and constructing a sleeve.
