Myrna Williams

My quilting is a tribute to my ancestors.  I started taking lessons from Mary Butler at Riverbank State Park.  My piecing and quilting are done by machine; and I hand finish my bindings.  My inspiration to quilt fulfills my obligations of gifts to friends and family.  This is how I show love—by giving of my creativity and of my time.  Traditional quilt patterns generally inspire my own designs. Shopping for fabric also inspires my designs.  Novelty fabrics are my favorites for children’s quilts.  Whenever I work with fabric, I cut 6” square and 4 ˝” squares for my stash.   My quilts are crated as I work, sketching the design in Excel graphs.  I have participated in a Quilters of Color exhibit at the Hudson Guild Gallery in 2002, and at the Empire Quilters Guild Show in 2000.
